CEBU Auxiliary Bishop Dennis Villarojo told parishioners of the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes that sometimes God allows illnesses to remind people that life in this world is temporary.
Villarojo officiated the mass last Feb. 4 to close the Year of Grace for Lourdes Shrine, concelebrated by parish rector Fr. Randolph Figuracion and other priests.
Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma declared the Lourdes Shrine a pilgrim church under the Year of Grace from Feb. 11, 2017 to Feb. 4, 2018.
The shrine celebrated its 60th anniversary last Feb. 11, 2017.
As a privilege for the Year of Grace, a person who entered the church until last Feb. 4, 2018 through the arch and said one Our Father, one Hail Mary, Glory Be with confession and communion would receive an indulgence from God.
Lourdes Shrine will re-stage the musical “Song of Bernadette” at SM Seaside on Feb. 16-18, said Artistic Director Mary Rose Villacastin Maghuyop. (EOB)
