TWO alleged lovers were found dead inside an apartelle in Barangay Lower Phil-Am Tuesday morning.

Reports from Police Regional Office-Cordillera showed an alleged shooting incident involving the two casualties occurred between 10:30 a.m. of July 15 and 7:20 a.m. of July 16 at the second floor of Room 202 at Ferioni 2 Apartelle.

Investigations made by the Baguio City Police Office Station 5 showed that the two victims checked-in at the apartelle around 11:41 a.m. last July 14 from Meycauayan, Bulacan.

However, hotel staff became curious on their clients when around 7:20 a.m. of July 16, their customers failed to check-out the previous day and never went out of the room.

This prompted the hotel’s room boy to force open the room as the alleged occupants failed to reply to their persistent knocks.

Upon opening the room, the hotel attendant discovered the two were lying face up on a bed with blood stains prompting the appartelle staff to call for police assistance.

The male victim was identified by the police as Angelito Rivero, a resident of No. 10, Bangga, Meycauyan, Bulacan based on a driver’s license recovered from his wallet.

The lady victim was later identified as Maritess Baniqued after her companions arrived in the city from Meycauayan, Bulacan.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) led by Superintendent Jaime Rodrigo Leal and Superintendent Maurice Coria-en recovered a .38 caliber revolver and three pieces of fired cartridge case.

Soco revealed that Rivero possibily shot Baniqued, his girlfriend, first before killing himself, as evident in the gunshot wounds of the female.

The bodies of the casualties were eventually brought to St. Peter Memorial Chapel for further autopsy while police investigations as to the motive of the suspect in killing his partner are still being known. (JM Agreda)
