LTFRB-Davao apprehends 375 vehicles in 2017

THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)-Davao has apprehended 375 vehicles on the streets in 2017, as the agency continues its franchise violation operations.

In a data obtained from LTFRB-Davao, out of the 375 violators, 361 units were apprehended due to franchise related violations. Of the 361 units, 252 had been arbitrated and 109 are pending.

Among the violations committed by the motorists are violation in connection with licensing, in connection with motor vehicle registration/renewal/operations, and in connection with specifications/weight and load limits, and franchise.

The other 14 vehicles were apprehended and impounded for being colorum. Of the 14 vehicles, seven were already released back to the respective operators after complying the necessities.

Colorum vehicles are private vehicles that operate as public utility vehicles (PUVs) with no registered franchise from the agency. Another colorum vehicles are those that do not possess a permit to operate but are still plying on streets.

LTFRB-Davao director Teresitadela Peña-Yñiguez said the agency is encouraging all operators and motorists to abide the law, and for the passengers to exercise necessary precaution in riding a PUV. (ICT)
