BACOLOD City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya urged the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) to immediately conduct an assessment of the current situation of local water supply in Bacolod.
He also asked LWUA to formulate and implement a comprehensive plan that will ensure quality and adequate water supply within the city.
This was contained in his proposed Resolution No. 1382 filed last October 4 before the House of Representatives.
Gasataya cited that water is vital to local and national development and it has become increasingly necessary for the government to intervene actively in improving the management of water resources.
The human right to steady and clean water supply is stated in the 1974 United Nation's Human Rights Declaration, he added.
