Magalona assumes as president of Pace

VENCHITO Magalona, head of security of the Provincial Capitol in Negros Occidental, is now the president of the Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees (Pace).

Magalona, who was elected vice president, said he assumed the top post last week after the retirement of union president Alfredo Dinoy from his work at the Provincial Budget Office.

He said they will hold a general assembly on January 28 and the Board will hold the election for the new set of officers. His term as board member will end in 2019.

Magalona assured the Capitol employees that the union has been working for their welfare.

He also said those who became casual employees from contractuals were not downgraded but rather retitled in compliance with the thrust of President Rodrigo Duterte for the end of contractualization.

“They will still receive the same salaries and benefits depending on their respective salary grades,” he said.

Magalona also encouraged other employees who are not members of Pace yet to enlist with the union so that they will be covered by some of the programs like health insurance and burial benefits.

He said that non-Pace members last year paid the agency fee of P750 to enjoy the Collective Negotiation Agreement bonus, which is based on the agreement of the union and the Provincial Government.
