Man arrested after shooting son in Aloguinsan

A 60-YEAR-OLD man was arrested after allegedly shooting his 34-year-old son dead in Sitio San Vicente, Barangay Saksak, Aloguinsan, Cebu, around 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 11.

Police identified the suspect as Felix Canencia Sr., who admitted shooting Felix Jr. thrice out of anger that his son continued gathering firewood in his lot.

The victim was hit on the chest twice and on the left leg.

Before the incident happened, Felix Jr. went to the house of his friend in Saksak.

Felix Sr. was on board the motorcycle driven by his other son, Jason. They happened to pass by the motorcycle of Felix Jr. parked outside the house.

Felix Sr. later confronted his son for allegedly continuing to sell firewood without his knowledge. He then pulled out his caliber .38 revolver in the middle of their argument and shot Felix Jr.

After shooting his son, Felix Sr. threw his gun.

Jason brought his older brother to Carcar City hospital, but the latter failed to reach the hospital alive.

A parricide complaint will be filed against Felix Sr. before the provincial prosecutor's office on Friday, October 13. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
