Man ‘rapes’ daughter, nabbed in Tuburan

A 54-YEAR-OLD man was arrested on Tuesday afternoon, December 12, for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter in Barangay Bagasawe, Tuburan, Cebu.

Suspect Gardo (real name withheld) was arrested by a team of police officers supervised by Superintendent Marlu Conag, the acting town police chief. (SunStar is holding the name of the suspect to protect his daughter.)

The incident was reported to the police by the suspect's estranged wife, who said the rape happened on Monday morning, December 11.

Gardo and his wife have been separated for nine years. The victim lives with her mother.

The suspect, an employee of a traveling carnival, went to his wife's house, where he found his daughter alone. He then raped her and fled.

The girl was brought to the local social welfare office for stress debriefing.

Gardo will face complaints for rape in relation to Republic Act 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination.
