Man sued for sniffing solvent

A MAN is facing charges before the court after he was caught in the act of sniffing solvent in Calinan, Davao City.

Floreston Mendez Batoon is charged with violation of the Presidential Decree 1619 also known as the use or possession or the unauthorized sale to minors of a volatile substance.

In a resolution dated February 1, prosecutor Myla Comendador-Lao found probable cause to charge the accused based on the complaint filed by the Calinan police.

The complaint followed after authorities allegedly recovered a plastic bottle containing the substance from Batoon.

Batoon was arrested by Police Officer 1 Mark Angelo Garcia in the act of sniffing solvent from the bottle.

Comendador-Lao said the laboratory examination yielded positive for toluene, a chemical used in manufacturing commercial products like paint and glue, as evidenced by the Chemistry Report which held him liable of the crime. (ICT)
