Manila courts to hold half-day work on Monday due to 'Traslacion'

THE Supreme Court (SC) has announced that work in all courts in Manila will be over by noontime of Monday, January 9, due to the expected difficulty in transportation to be caused by the pilgrimage of the Black Nazarene (Traslacion).

In an advisory issued by the SC Public Information Office (PIO), it said that work in SC, Court of Appeals (CA), Manila Trial Courts, Regional Trial Court (RTC) and Metropolitan Trial Courts (MeTC) are suspended on Monday from 12 p.m. onwards.

The SC, however, said skeleton force in these courts to address urgent filings and pleadings shall be maintained.

Among these are the SC Office of the Clerk of Court En banc, SC Judicial Records Office (JRO), SC Cash Division, CA Office of the Clerk of Court, CA Cash Division, CA JRO, all receiving offices (Judicial and Bar Council and Office of the Court Administrator).

The SC said executive judges of the RTC and MeTC may exercise their discretion in maintaining the skeleton force to deal with the pleadings to be filed on Monday.

The modified work schedule is approved by Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

This coming Monday, 1.5 million Black Nazarene devotees are expected to participate in the said religious gathering. (Sunnex)
