Manokan Country tenants get final collection notices

THE Bacolod City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) served the second and final notices to the 18 Manokan Country tenants to settle their account within 20 days.

City Treasurer Giovanni Balalilhe Thursday said they served the notices last week to the stall holders who have big arrears.

“If they fail to settle, their names will be forwarded to the City Legal Office for legal action,” he added.

The Commission on Audit and the CTO had earlier said that the account of the delinquent Manokan Country tenants have reached P6.8 million.

Balalilhe said they sent the first notice to the tenants on June, but most of them failed to settle their accounts.

He said most of them have arrears of P300,000 to P500,000.

“They should pay because we were also warned by COA to do our job,” Balalilhe said.

Of 26 stall owners, only eight have settled their accounts.

David Montoya, president of Manokan Country Vendors Association, had earlier said that they are willing to settle their monthly dues and accrued penalties.

Tenants should be paying a P2,500 monthly rental for the stall aside from the P200 being collected by the city from each tenant.
