Manokan Country tenants improve facilities

BACOLOD City Administrator John Orola said tenants of Manokan Country have improved their facilities to serve their customers better during the MassKara Festival celebration.

Orola was joined by City Hall reporters during the final inspection of the stalls Saturday.

He said that of the 22 tenants, only three failed to improve their facilities.

The three tenants will be given a chance to develop their stalls or else they will pay penalties.

Those who fail to comply with the requirements will be penalized or suspended. Their stall permits may also be revoked, Orola said.

Last month, all the tenants were given an ultimatum to improve their facilities based on the design of the City Engineer’s Office.

Orola said the 19 tenants already improved their kitchens, comfort rooms, and drainage systems.

However, the over-all situation of the Manokan Country needs to be rehabilitated along with the three major public markets of the city.

Orola said Mayor Evelio Leonardia also temporarily suspended the arrears of some tenants because of the festival celebration.

"The tenants were given a consideration to settle their latest arrears only, and their remaining accounts will be paid based on agreed terms so they can pay it," he added.
