MASANTOL -- Mayor Danilo Guintu on Monday recognized the good deeds of the honest policeman who returned the cash he found in a street here recently.
Police Officer 1 Joey Velasco, who is detailed at the Masantol Police Station, received a certificate of appreciation from the local government during the flag ceremony held at the Municipal Hall grounds.
Velasco recently received praises in social media for returning the P10,000 cash he found in the street of Barangay Sto. Domingo, Minalin without hesitation.
During the awarding rites, Guintu lauded Velasco “for demonstrating unquestionable honesty, integrity and moral character as a police officer and a public servant.”
He stressed that such act is commendable as it redounds to the good image not only of the Philippine National Police but to the whole institution represented by the government which is dedicated to serve, protect and promote public good.
Guintu also said that he is proud that such an honest policeman is detailed in his jurisdiction as his action affirmed that Masantoleños are safe and secured.
