Matalam vice mayor gets 1-month suspension

FOR not disclosing the true amount of his properties, a town vice mayor is slapped with a one-month suspension.

The Office of the Ombudsman has suspended Matalam town Vice Mayor Oscar Valdevieso of the Cotabato province over Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) discrepancy.

Valdevieso has started serving the suspension order slapped against him by the Ombudsman.

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Cotabato provincial head Ali Abdullah, in his statement, said the 30-day suspension of the local government unit official started on Monday, December 4.

Abdullah said the case of Valdevieso stemmed from his miscalculation in the amount of the properties he declared in his SALN.

For the Ombudsman, it was a simple negligence, which was tantamount to one month and one day suspension of holding office.

The Provincial Government received the Ombudsman's order last November 29. Valdevieso is the father of Matalam Mayor Cheryl Valdevieso-Catamco.
