Mayor orders strict inspection of buildings

MAYOR Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has instructed Superintendent Jhufel Brañanola, newly-installed city fire marshal, to ensure that all the buildings in the city, particularly business establishments will undergo the necessary fire safety inspections.

Salazar issued her first directive to Brañanola on Monday, stressing that the fire safety inspections are important “so that we will be able to respond to accordingly” in times of emergency.

Salazar’s directive came at this time of the year when the City Government is in the thick of processing applications for new and renewal of business permits under a simplified system dubbed Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) at Centro Latino, Paseo del Mar.

One of the requirements for business permit is the Fire Safety Inspection Certificate (FSIC) from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

Brañanola has replaced Chief Inspector Clint Cha, who was reassigned effective January 1, 2018 as the logistics officer of the BFP regional office. (SunStar Philippines)
