IT STARTED with a dream, and then the dream becomes a goal, and then the goal becomes a reality.

Realizing the great need of the country to address shortage of medical centers and the lack of access to top-tier hospitals thereof by locals living in places far from the cities that house these facilities, the St. Benedict Healthcare Group initiated to construct a series of hospital buildings all over Mindanao.

The medical group aims to establish 20 hospitals all over Mindanao and in fact, as of the present, two of the hospital buildings are already taking shape.

The first of the series of hospitals being built by the group is the St. Benedict Hospital in Sinaragan, Matanao, Davao del Sur which is already 40 percent complete according to St. Benedict Healthcare Group President Bernard Gortina in the previous interview. The other hospital is also currently undergoing construction in Tagum City and it is named as the Midpark Medical Center.

Once completed, the St. Benedict hospital will be Davao del Sur’s largest with its four storeys and 200-bed capacity. With its existence, residence of Davsur and the neighboring provinces like Davao Occidental and Cotabato will no longer have to travel to as far as Davao City just to avail of quality medical services. This will soon be equipped with machines and other tools purchased from Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China and will also house well-respected medical specialists from the province.

The Midpark Medical Center in Tagum City is also another huge hospital and will be composed of 10 storeys and 250 beds.

According to Gortina, the hospital “will become a highly advanced medical center in Davao del Norte that is at par with the other hospitals” that are already existing in the region. This project alone costs P700 Million and will occupy a 5,000-square-meter land area. Wide medical services await the locals there as it will soon have 50 doctors with different specializations that will offer services in Nephrology, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Oby-gyne and Sub Oby-gyne, among others.

“The goal of the healthcare group is to build tertiary hospital among the major cities and provinces and give easy access on health care services to the people,” Gortina said.
