Mendoza: Fashion tips for the morena

WHEN looking for the perfect hue of clothes, every morena will surely agree with me that it is one challenging task for us.

Well, we could not just pick any color of a dress or blouse that we would like to wear to our school’s homecoming or to our family reunion. It is simply because we do not want to end up looking like a walking piece of cloth.

Unlike the fairer girls who can wear even the brightest neon clothing there is in a boutique, dark-skinned girls like me have to consider the fact that there would be some shades that will never ever look good on us. Do not get me wrong, though. I love my skin! It is just that it is important that we could enhance our looks in whatever fashion piece we wear.

So I check for some fashion tips that can help us, the proud morena girls, enhance our beauty even more no matter which designs we pick.

1. Stick to earthy. According to Candy Mag, when a morena wants to keep it casual, we can stick to earthy tones like brown and white. And to add some color to it, we may opt for a green-colored top.

2. Veer away from flashy and bright tones. Bright pink and yellow are two of the colors that every morena should avoid since they will only make our skin “look dull.”

3. Go for sharp and clear colors. These are white, black, navy blue and red. These solid colors will complement the brown-skinned Filipina’s beauty.

4. Do not opt for subdued earth tones. While we were told to stick to earthy tones, it was clarified that we need to avoid the subdued ones like beige and orange.

5. Keep it blue to the party. When going to a party, it is best that we choose the darker shades like blue and navy. It is even suggested that we look for a dress with gradient design to accentuate our shape and complement our skin color.

6. Black and white can be our BFF. According to a post on Female Network, we must never be afraid of getting “washed out” by wearing black and white. It was pointed out that white makes our skin look fuller and richer, while black “draws out” the gold tone in our complexion.

There you have it, my fellow morena beauties. Let us all go out proud with our perfect olive skin!
