Mendoza: ‘Sinungaling Mong Puso’ stars admit pressure

LEAD stars of the Kapuso afternoon soap “Sinungaling Mong Puso” have admitted about feeling the pressure, but they have pointed out that it has somehow become their motivation.

While in Davao City to join the 31st Kadayawan Festival on August 21, Rhian Ramos, Rafael Rosell, and Kiko Estrada shared their thoughts about doing roles that were previously portrayed by veteran artists Vilma Santos, Gabby Concepcion, and Aga Muhlach, respectively.

In an interview with the Davao Entertainment press at Rekado restaurant, Rafael said that despite the pressure, especially with the 1992 movie being a blockbuster, he noted that the TV adaptation is “too different” from the original version.

He cited time difference as the major consideration for his comment and Rhian Ramos appeared to have supported this.

“As much as possible, ayokong manggaya ng atake,” the former "The Rich Man's Daughter" star said. “I mean, ayokong manggaya ng atake. And I don’t think naman everyone expects me to kasi nga doon sa different time.”

“Isa pa, different din ang style of acting kapag sa pelikula at teleserye,” she added, while explaining that a different acting style is required if a TV series will be shown in the afternoon as compared to the one that is intended for an evening time slot.

As for Kiko, he looks at pressure as something “good.”

“Pressure is good, eh, because it brings out the best in us,” he said.

“Kung may pressure, titingnan mo siya para mas gumanda ang pag-arte mo.”

When asked what pressures her the most, Rhian Ramos immediately hinted that avid followers of the original cast.

“Doon ako nahihiya sa concept na iyong kapag may original fans iyong movie, or kaya iyong may nakapanood na sa movie na solid fans nina Gabby, Aga, o iyong mga Vilmanians,” she said. “I’m just praying and hoping na hindi sila mag-expect na the same.”

When it comes to changes in the dialogue, the actress shared that they have definitely replaced some of the exchanges used in the film, except for the iconic ones.

“There are things kasi that when you say now, they do not sound natural anymore kasi nga ang casual nating magsalita ngayon compared to before na parang it was kind of poetic every time na nagbabatuhan sila ng linya,” the actress explained.

In the afternoon soap, Rhian plays Clara, the abused wife of Roman (Rafael), a womanizer. She eventually meets Jason (Kiko) who later becomes her lover.

Catch “Sinungaling Mong Puso” every afternoon from Monday to Friday, on GMA Network.
