Mendoza: Too good to be true is dubious

IT IS very easy to promise, to tell the world that you mean what you say but unless it is couple with action, it is useless.

Nowadays, we are still hearing self-confessed victims of too good to be true offers. Those who are in dire need of man’s means of survival, money, would immediately jump into it without considering the grim future that will always part of such scheme. When shall we learn our lessons?

Live within our means. It is a cliché for some but a must for everyone to do. Our few moments of glory cannot compensate with our prolonged agony especially if the scheme turned out to be inviting at first but nightmare as time goes by.

Social media, radio and TV reports of scams here and there always remind us that offers that are unbelievable and beyond the normal transactions are dubious and bound to fail. The truth of the matter is, it would be the source of misery, broken relationship, trauma and stressful days, weeks, months and even years. If this happens, the authorities in an organization will be asked to act on their behalf even in the first place, said people were not even informed that they would yield to said juicy offers.

People who have been victims of such scams should learn their lessons. It is enough that one will suffer the consequences of their actions and never be part of another dubious acts of organizations pretending to save you but will, in reality, pull you down even more.

It will not happen if no one will be willing victim because in the first place, the said wrong decision complicates the matter and cause numerous other consequences. What makes it worse is, not one will be victimized but groups of people with common situations -- acquiring debt to pay a debt. Why not paying it up to its last monthly installment and if there is no need to acquire another one, then stop or use the proceeds for an endeavor that will let you earn extra income or invest in a business or cooperative that in the end will give you dividends or profit share.

Let us also be literate financially. Let us not be slave with material things in this world. Let is multiply than divide or minus. Let us think positive and do not do the negative. Be aware and beware. There is still time to rethink and refocus your priorities in life.

This Corner hopes that before you enter into any transaction, examine it first and weigh the pros and cons and its implication in the future, good or bad.
