'Mentally ill' teen breaches Malacañang security

A SIXTEEN-year-old boy who officials said apparently suffered from mental illness managed to breach security in Malacañang Palace on Thursday, to get close to President Rodrigo Duterte.

According to the logbook of the Presidential Security Group (PSG), the boy's name was Carurucan.

The boy, who was wearing a gray tee shirt, denim pants and a pair of slippers, entered the Palace compound via the New Executive Building (NEB), where no PSG members were roving, at around 1:29 p.m.

Carurucan said he sneaked into the Malacañang Palace because he wanted to talk to the President Rodrigo Duterte.

"I will only tell him (Duterte) something," he said.

President Duterte was not around during the security breach.

Carurucan is now in the custody of the police. Authorities who picked him at the Palace said he was "mentally ill."

In 2014, an armed woman attempted to enter the NEB's gate 3 but had been blocked by the PSG. (Sunnex)
