Merzci gears up for further expansion

MERZCI Pasalubong, operated by CM & Sons Food Products Inc., gears up for further expansion in Western Visayas.

Chief executive officer Jonathan Lo and his team on Friday updated reporters and bloggers in Bacolod City about the growth of Merzci and the business direction it is taking towards continued expansion in the region.

Merzci, which started as a bakery supplying breads to a single store in Libertad Market in Bacolod, now has 50 branches and is still growing.

They have 42 branches in Negros Occidental, two in Negros Oriental, and six in Panay.

Four branches will open soon in areas of Pavia, Iloilo; two in Hinigaran town and two in Talisay City in Negros Occidental; and another in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

Lo said Merzci "never stops in giving the market a more convenient access to its products by opening additional branches around Negros and Panay provinces."

It is also committed to be the most preferred bakeshop-fastfood-pasalubong and baked off brand by giving unequal effort in appraising the highest value for money, he added.

Merzci started with 20 workers in 1995. It currently employs 1,400 people.

Having a strong roster of personnel, the seven pioneers are still working with them, Lo said.

He added that the company aims bigger with its plan to build a Merzci Pasalubong plant on a 4,000 square-meter area in Vista Alegre, Bacolod.

The establishment of the 1.5-hectare Piaya Land theme park is ongoing still in Vista Alegre.

The theme park highlights "Piaya," which is a truly Negrense-made.*
