Milo Little Olympics celebrates 21st year in Mindanao

THE Milo Little Olympics Mindanao Leg, which opened its 21st year at Don Gregorio Pelaez Sports Center in Cagayan de Oro last September 15 was another huge success.

The annually-held Milo Little Olympics is an epic nationwide tournament that caters and showcases the winning energy and winning attitude of the country's young champions of generations. Milo Little Olympics was renowned in different places all over the country and has four (4) Legs particularly in National Capital Region (NCR) in South Luzon-Leg, another one in North and South Luzon-Leg mainly in Baguio City, Visayas-Leg in Cebu City and another one in Mindanao held in Cagayan de Oro.

The event was able to attract around 4,500 elementary and secondary school athletes coming from 160 competing schools all over Mindanao.

The event was spearheaded by Milo’s Sports Executive Mr. Lester P. Castillo and Mr. Robbie De Vera together with its long-time partner Milo’s Organizer Mr. Megdonio Llamera.

Student athletes have competed in fifteen (15) different sports categories in elementary and secondary levels, including Arnis, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Football, Gymnastics, Karatedo, Scrabble, Sipa/Sepak Takraw, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis and Volleyball.

Milo Little Olympics also highlighted the event by bringing back the identification of the “Most Outstanding Athletes Awardees” both in Elementary and Secondary Divisions. According to Milo’s Sports Executive Mr. Lester P. Castillo, Most Outstanding Athletes Awardees will be coming from the best of the best student athletes from elementary and high school division.

“E-iidentify po natin kung sino yung students yung pinaka magaling sa lahat po ng sumali this year and the Most Outstanding Athletes will be recognized. We will give them a limited Milo jacket, a year supply of Milo and we will also give them a special certificate recognizing them as the Most Outstanding Athlete,” Castillo said.

Another occurrence in Milo Little Olympics that paved the way for youngsters to showcase their beauty and confidence was the search for Miss Milo Little Olympics 2017.

“Ang pinaka main role po ng Milo Sports program is that naniniwala po ang Milo sa value na naibibigay ng Sports para po sa amin kapag ang kabataan pinasok na sa sports matututo sila ng iba’t-ibang character forming values that will help them succeed in life, ito pong mga values na ito ay sample po rito ay disciplina, respeto, pagpupursige at katapatan.
