Minglanilla traffic enforcer, drivers caught in pot session

A TRAFFIC enforcer and two others were arrested by police after they were caught sniffing methaphetamine hydrochloride, also known as shabu, in a shanty in Barangay Poblacion Ward 3, Minglanilla at 1:45 a.m. Friday, September 1.

Carlito Ebora, 54, who works for the Minglanilla Traffic Commission (Mitcom), was arrested after he was caught holding a pot session by police.

Aside from Ebora, also arrested are Noel Espura, 42; and Donald Perocho, 41, both working as drivers in an unidentified company.

PO2 Alvin Traya of the Minglanilla Police Station said they received calls from concerned residents about the activities of the three men.

Operatives led by Superintendent Dexter Calacar recovered three small packs of suspected shabu and various drug paraphernalia from the suspects.

While admitting that he was a drug user, Ebora said it was only this morning that he returned to his habit.

Ebora has been working as a traffic enforcer for almost a year just before he was arrested.

Concordio Mejias, Minglanilla town administrator, said Ebora will no longer be allowed to work starting Monday. Mejias said the Municipal Government plans to conduct random drug test for all its personnel.

Three months ago, the services of 10 personnel, mostly job-order workers, were terminated after they were found positive of illegal drug use during a surprise drug test. (JKV)
