A 13-YEAR-OLD boy hanged himself to death inside his grandmother's house in Barangay Tubigagmanok, Asturias town, Cebu, on Monday afternoon, September 25.
Police said Ben (not his real name) was found by his cousins hanging around 1:15 p.m.
Investigators have yet to determine the reason for Ben's suicide.
The boy's parents have been separated for a long time.
Senior Inspector Jade Sumugat, Asturias police chief, said they are looking into the possibility that the boy's estranged relationship with his parents may have contributed to his decision to commit suicide.
Around 12 p.m., Ben arrived home from school to eat his lunch. Afterwards, he told his grandmother he would not go back to school to attend the afternoon classes.
Ben later played games with his cousins but he was later left in the house.
His cousins noticed Ben became silent.
Ben climbed upstairs. His cousins later checked him and were stunned upon seeing Ben hanging from the clothesline.
Ben's grandmother and their neighbors rushed inside the house after hearing the cousins shouting for help.
The boy was rushed to Asturias Infirmary Clinic but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician. (KAL)
