Mobbed man who stole goat released

A MAN who got injured after he was mobbed by residents for stealing a goat in Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City was released from detention Thursday, November 9.

Senior Inspector Ramel Sarona, head of Police Station 7, said 28-year-old Joel Cepeda was released from police custody around 1 p.m. after the complainant refused to pursue the filing of theft charges against him.

On November 8, Cepeda, driving a tricycle with his two unidentified companions, attempted to steal a goat but they were spotted by nearby residents.

They were chased, but only Cepeda was cornered. His companions managed to escape.

Sarona said Cepeda sustained injuries and was detained for 12 hours.

The station chief said they are waiting for other complainants that might have also been victimized by Cepeda’s group believed to be responsible for stealing animals in the area of Police Station 7. (GYM)
