THE top four finishers in the school-based archery competition will have their mock finals on April 21 at the Labangon Elementary School grounds.
This was earlier set last Monday, but the Cebu City Sports Complex is undergoing preparations for the Azkals-Malaysia game on April 27, forcing the Cebu City Sports Commission and its partners, the Department of Education Cebu City and the Cebu Archery Club, to move the date and venue.
CCSC staff Gayle Dico said the top four finishers from the 12 schools who had already conducted their school-wide elimination round will be participating the dry run.
This activity is part of Cebu City’s attempt to earn another Guinness World Record, this time for the biggest archery tournament, which is currently held by the U.S.
The CCSC had moved the finals to October to allow better preparations.
“The resumption of the in-school and other (archer) competitions will be in the new school year, since the kids aren’t doing anything. We just try to keep the flame burning and hope we can pass all this test,” Dico added.
CCSC chairman Edward Hayco is confident they can survive this challenge even if they are facing an insurmountable task.
The October finals was the fourth postponement since its original schedule in November last year.
The dry run participants are tasked to assists the CAC in officiating school tournaments starting in June.
