THE Davao City Prosecution Office has found probable cause to indict a mother who hit her child as punishment.
Prosecutor Samuel Atencia in a resolution dated September 8, 2016 recommended the filing of Charges against Elena Estiola for the Violation of Republic Act 7610 or "Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act."
Based on the resolution, on September 2, 2016, a police officer from Sta. Ana police station saw a child being chased by a woman, who was armed with a wooden stick.
The police rescued the child and arrested the mother.
Prosecutor Atencia, in the same resolution said that the arrest was legal and recommended indictment, as record shows that over a period of time, she has been maltreating and beating her 11-year-old child. (KVC)
