Morales lauds Aquino on Sona

MABALACAT – "He was very sincere and down to earth".

This is how Mabalacat City Mayor Marino "Boking" Morales described President Benigno Aquino III when he delivered his State of the Nation Address (Sona) during a joint session of the Congress and the Senate.

The President, said the mayor, is determined to fight corruption in the government and at the same time alleviate the plight of the Filipino people in general.

"His message is to serve his bosses (Filipino people) with honor. To uplift their socio-economic well being and to continue to fight corruption because Filipinos are definitely worth dying for," Morales said.

The mayor also cited the Clark Green City project implemented by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), which he said will spur development in the Metro Clark area.

Aquino mentioned that the government has likewise given the go signal for the construction of phase one of the modern Clark Green City in Capas, Tarlac, that will serve as a center for commerce and industry, not only of Central Luzon, but also of the entire country.

"At the end of the day, our vision for Clark Green City is that it becomes even bigger than the Bonifacio Global City. Formerly isolated places will now become areas teeming with opportunity," Aquino said.

"As long as your faith remains strong—as long as we continue serving as each other's strength -- we will continue proving that the Filipino is worth dying for, the Filipino is worth living for, and if I might add, the Filipino is worth fighting for," the President said.
