THE Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) in Davao Region, through the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPB), will recognize other industries based in the region for the "two-tiered wage system," after the banana industry this year.
Lawyer Joffrey Suyao, Dole-Davao director said in an interview at the sidelines of the 2015 Regional Productivity Olympics awarding ceremony Tuesday at the SMX Convention Center that plans of giving seal of recognition to other industries are now on hand.
"As the pilot year for the recognition of the two tiered wage system with banana as pilot industry, the RTWPB will now consider issuing an advisory for other industries to participate," he said, adding the labor department will expand the program to other industries, like cacao, coconut, and service among others.
But Suyao also said that even without board advisories being issued, steps on encouraging other industries to provide and adapt productivity incentives and two-tiered wage system, which is voluntary for the employers already started.
In its first year, the region had identified two banana industry players as recipients of the seal of recognition of the two-tiered wage system in the banana industry. These are Tadeco and the Turtoga Valley Plantation Inc. (TVPI).
u201cWe are so much grateful to receive the seal of recognition. This truly will motivate us to do more for the welfare of our employees,” Alfonso M. dela Cruz, Jr. , TVPI operations manager said in a speech.

This year, Apo ni Lola, Adap Cooperative, Bioskin, Daveco, Norie’s footwear and supply, and Wood Workers are the regional contenders for the National Productivity Olympus sometime in October in time of the National productivity month.
