Motorcycle-for-hire driver shot dead in Minglanilla

A MOTORCYCLE-for-hire driver, who was allegedly engaged in illegal drug trade, was shot dead by three masked men in Barangay Poblacion Ward 4, Minglanilla, Cebu, at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, July 22.

Ramon Zamora Espina, 44, succumbed to gunshot wounds in the neck and stomach. He was rushed to Minglanilla District Hospital, but he was declared dead.

Minglanilla Police Chief Dexter Calacar said the murder could be drug-related, adding that the victim was listed as a pusher.

Espina surrendered during Oplan Tokhang and promised to change, but Calacar said he received reports he return to selling methamphetamine hydrochloride or "shabu."

A relative told the police that Espina went to the kitchen after hearing a noise. He opened the door and the gunmen shot him at least five times.
