MPG sked all set

THE calendar of events for the 3rd Mindanao Peace Games (MPG) is all set when the Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) will host it on October 24 to 29.

Addu special project coordinator Celina Simone Jaldon, in a Facebook chat with SunStar Davao, said an MPG meeting was conducted last August 22 and 23 in the Pakighinabi Room of Addu, Jacinto Campus in preparation for the upcoming event.

The six-day program will commence with a coaches forum and a team captain's leadership forum upon arrival of the participating schools in Mindanao.

"In the afternoon, we are exploring the possibility of having a Talent ID session, in cooperation with Phases (Philippine Association for Sport and Exercise Science)," Jaldon said, adding that MPG's traditional "popcorn and movie night" is also scheduled on the first day.

The cultural night, with the search for the MPG Ambassador event, a series of talks in the TED format, and the Trivia Night (new addition as a bonding experience) will follow in the next few days together with the commencement of the eight sporting events including basketball, volleyball, football, chess, swimming, track and field, table tennis and badminton.

The closing ceremony will be held in the afternoon of the 29th.

Participating schools are Addu, Datu Ibrahim Paglas Memorial College, Holy Cross of Davao College, University of Southeastern Philippines, San Pedro College, Holy Trinity College, Iligan Medical Center College, St. Vincent College of Dipolog, Ateneo De Zamboanga University, Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, La Salle University Ozamiz, Mindanao State University Marawi, St. Joseph Institute of Technology Butuan and Father Saturnino Urois University.
