MTE’16 targets P35M in sales

THE Mindanao Trade Expo Foundation Inc. (MTEFI) is eyeing to hit a total of P35 million in sales for this year’s Mindanao Trade Expo which runs from August 12 to August 21 at the Abreeza Mall Activity Center, Davao City.

In its 21st year, the 10-day exhibit highlights the natural and organic products made by the local designers and other micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across Mindanao.

Last year, MTEFI sales target was P30 million.

“Since we’re holding it in time for the Kadayawan Festival of Davao City, we are optimistic about achieving our sales target,” said MTEFI President Rosevic Lucilla Cembrano.

Cembrano said that for this year they will focus on material manipulation.

Some of the showcased products are banana fiber, water hyacinth, nito vine, and bago-bago vine.

These materials are used in making home-style and wearable products.

They aim to help and develop these local products and upgrade them to become export-grade.

Cembrano said there are more than 100 participating MSMEs coming from Mindanao and even Visayas along with their best products and services.

“We want our MSMEs to be properly guided, that’s why we have these special features of MTE 2016. We want them to be fully equipped as they strive to become more competitive both in local and international market,” she added.

MTE also conducts enhancement program, training on entrepreneurial skills development in partnership with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Davao Region.

This MTE 2016 is supported by DTI, Department of Science and Technology and Abreeza Ayala Mall. (WNNarisma and EABuhian, Addu interns/with ASP)
