Nat’l food safety confab set in Bacolod

THE Association of Negros Producers-Foundation for Enterprise Development Inc. (ANP-Fedi) will host the second Our Food National Conference on Food Safety on May 24 and 25 at the SMX Convention Center Bacolod.

The two-day learning event will bring together food entrepreneurs, food technologists, restaurateurs, and key players in the food industry.

ANP-Fedi partners with the Department of Trade and Industry and Afos Foundation, a German non-government organization that advocates safe and sustainable food.

Surveys show that local food enterprises need to be equipped with the right approach and the tools to become sustainable and competitive, and the first step is to ensure food safety, according to the Afos Foundation.

The upcoming conference will feature talks, entrepreneurs’ success stories, activities and exhibits that highlight food safety as a competitive advantage.

Among the topics are food safety challenges and practical solutions, the importance of food packaging and labeling, food safety in backyard production, among others.

Last year, the first National Food Safety Summit held in Cebu City gathered about 500 participants.

The conference is open to all.
