TEAM Lakay’s Delfin Nawen and Rizalino Olivar eclipsed the almost disappointing showing of their teammates after eking out convincing victories against separate foes in the fifth staging of the PXC Laban MMA.
Nawen scored his fifth victory against one loss after making short work of 16 - year –old John Lloyd Libuit just in the first frame of their scheduled three round match up in the main event of the developmental MMA league at the Baguio Convention Center.
Olivar meanwhile preserved his clean slate after six bouts after submitting his opponent via a rear naked choke also in the first round despite Noy Francisco’s relentless take down defense.
Genil Francisco meanwhile shocked Tribal Torogi’s Franklin Donglay who fell short to showcase his superior Muay Thai skills after being submitted via armbar in the first round.
But Michael Fangki avenged Donglay’s earlier loss as he came out the victor against Dindo Camansa with a ground and pound in the second round.
Jaybee Ban-eg and Estarda Donga-as however failed to secure the win for Team Lakay in the under card falling to more experienced fighters.
Ban-eg traded with Lucky Mateo in the three rounds only to be stopped in the third round with the Fight Corp MMA emerging victorious.
Dave Banguigui, also of Fight Corps MMA, endured a three round skirmish against Donga-as and emerged the winner with a split decision.
Team Lakay San Fernando’s Janh Serbo showcased immense talent in his striking game as referee calls the game to a stop in the third round against Daryl Bangangao while teammate Ju Jaehyeok falls shot to Kafagway’s Xavier Villanueva via a rare naked choke in round two.
Curtain raisers Vincent Velazques of Team Lakay La Trinidad and Eser Wangdali of Kafagway MMA wowed the crowds with their exchange of strikes as Velazques took home the first win of the night with a unanimous decision.
