NBI-Bacolod creates anti-drugs task force

THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Bacolod City has created a task force against drugs in response to the Duterte administration’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs.

Gregorio Tomagan Jr., acting executive officer and spokesman of NBI-Bacolod, yesterday said they received Special Order No. 002799 dated August 23, creating the NBI Task Force Illegal Drugs.

Tomogon said the order named Assistant Regional Director Roel Bolivar as task force commander, and Ross Jonathan Galicia as deputy commander for operations, and Joel Tovera as deputy for commander for administration.

In the Bacolod district office, the task force is headed by Renato

Garbo III, with agents Syruz Alusan, Modesto Cajita, William De Arca Jr., and Tomagan.

In the Negros Island Region, the body is headed by NBI Regional Director Mario Francis Tonelete, with Geovel Aperio and Baldomero Katigbak.

However, Tomagan said they have not yet received instructions on their specific functions.

“So far the only order from the national office is the designation of personnel to compose the task force,” he said.

“As a general rule, we should not kill the suspects and arrest him alive,” Tomagan said. “But if he attacks us, we should also defend ourselves.”
