NCCC to open almost P1-B project in 2018

THE New City Commercial Corp. (NCCC), a homegrown mall in Davao City, had its groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, September 14, at the site of its newest, modern mall in Tigatto-Mandug Road, Buhangin which is set to rise and open sometime in the second quarter of 2018.

LTS Malls Inc. president Sharlene Faye Lim, in a press conference on Wednesday at the NCCC Mall Food Cove function hall, said that the “near a billion worth” mall will position itself as an aspirational but affordable destination for Dabawenyo shoppers.

“It will have the NCCC supermarket and department store, yes it will be more modern but we will not eliminate the affordability value that we have been known and loved for,” she said, adding that this is in pursuit of their thrust in giving the Dabawenyos quality shopping experience.

Althea Lucas, associate vice-president of LTS Mall, Inc., for her part said, that the company’s expansion in Buhangin is geared towards serving the market in the Northern part of the city.

“The area (of expansion) is highly residential, huge potential of the market is there. So we decided to bring the NCCC experience closer to the north,” Lucas said.

Lucas also said that they are banking on the growth of the city and is having bright prospects in the company’s new venture.

With an area of over 8,700 square meters, the four-storey mall with basement parking will also feature facilities such as roof garden area, cinemas and retail shops that will offer a great mixture of both high-end and local brands that cater to the needs and wants of the market. It will have a total of 85 shops.

The new mall is designed by the Asya Designs, a Manila-based architectural firm that designed SM Mall of Asia and City of Dreams.

Lim added that the mall will go beyond just commercial building and is meant to serve an “urban junction” for residents, office workers and the public.

The target markets of the new mall are market segment A, B and aspirational C, mainly residents of District 2 of Davao City.

“The Davao people are mature enough to accept world class design,” he said.

Lucas added that they are working on bringing new brands in the mall particularly new apparel brands.

With the construction of the new mall, some 1,500 to 2,000 jobs will be generated.

Meawhile, Lim shared that apart from the new mall, more projects are also lined up including the renovation and expansion of its mall in Maa in a bid to provide better service to its customers and more space for more tenants like restaurants, BPOs, among others.

The homegrown company is also eyeing to develop their property in Panacan.

NCCC Malls, for over two decades, continues to give its loyal customers in Davao, Tagum and Palawan quality service as a value-for-money shopping destination.
