Negosyo Center in Carmen opens

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) opened a new Negosyo Center in the Municipality of Carmen, Davao del Norte to help small scale entrepreneurs prosper.

The new facility is the sixth of its kind in the province.

DTI-Davao Regional Director Maria Belenda Ambi spearheaded the official opening of the new business hub that is expected to facilitate micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the municipality as mandated by the Republic Act No. 10644 also known as the Go Negosyo Act.

In her message, Ambi posed a challenge to the local government unit and the local officials in attendance to express support to small and medium scale entrepreneurs and associations.

“Naa natay mga polisiya sa gobyerno nga tabangan ang atoang mga MSMEs (We now have government policies in place to help our MSMEs). We need to upscale their level of operation. Dili lang sila magpabilin nga micro forever (So that they will not remain as a micro enterprise forever),” Ambi said.

She also emphasized that an inter-agency effort especially within the local government is an essential factor to achieve a well-operated Negosyo Center.

“It’s really heart-warming for DTI basta supportive kaayo ang LGUs (that the LGUs are supportive). Nagpasabot ni sya nga ang mga local government units nato, the mayors and officials, are now aware nga kinahanglan gyud nato palambuon ang atong mga negosyante aron mulambo pud ang ekonomiya sa atong munisipyo (This goes to show that our local government units, the mayors, and officials are now aware that there is a need help grow the businesses, which will allow the local economy to grow)," Ambi added.

Davao del Norte governor Anthony del Rosario, who was represented by Rolly Yap, said that putting more innovations to business will definitely make it prosper and contribute to the province's economic growth.

“Small Businesses do not always stay small, they have the potential to turn into large corporations with the proper management and guidance. It is an engine of economic growth and job creation,” Yap noted.

The most recently-opened business center is the 30th hub in the region, while at least two more is eyed to be inaugurated before the year ends. (PR)
