Negrense clouters exit World Series

THE Asia-Pacific little leaguers, represented by the Negros Occidental Little League, exited from the 2017 Little League Softball World Series after suffering its biggest defeat in the hands of Southeast’s team from Rowan LL of Salisbury, North Carolina, 11-1.

The undefeated North Carolina-based clouters opened the first inning with two runs of Emma Clarke and Allie Burns before Anne Patricio scored the lone run for the Asia-Pacific team.

In the second inning, despite two outs, Kenadi Sproul was able to score NC’s third run on a Negrense error while the young Pinays failed to reach the home plate.

The Southeast batters sizzled in the third inning, scoring five runs from Sproul, Burns, Madelyn VonCanon, Katie Zocchi, and Ashlee Innis, extending the lead to 8-1.

After the scoreless fourth inning, Southeast further buried Asia-Pacific in the fifth inning with three more runs on Sproul, Brooke Kennerly, and Innis.

With the win, Southeast team faces Floyds Knobs Community Club LL of Floyds Knobs, Indiana in the semifinals.

The Asia-Pacific will try to improve their ranking in the tournament against Cedar City National LL of Cedar City, Utah. (HGD)
