Negrense spikers join Paraw beach volleyball tourney

TEN Negrense players are up to the challenge when they compete in the 15th Iloilo Paraw Regatta National Women’s Beach Volleyball Tournament this weekend at the Joe III Garden in Arevalo, Iloilo City.

The Negros Occidental-hailed spikers are Tan siblings, Bea and Gizelle; Alexa Polidario and Erjane Magdato of University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos; Margie Senas and Bianca Lizares of Bacolod City; Sheryl Laborte and Loren Gamboa of St. John’s Institute; and the tandem of Mahris Cosain and Patricia Escares of University of St. La Salle.

Bea Tan will team up with Charo Soriano of Beach Volleyball Republic team while Gizelle Tan will partner with Amy Ahomiro for Perlas-BanKo Lady Spikers.

Host-Team Iloilo will be bannered by Dhannalyn Mae Demontaño and Jackielyn Estoquia while Glaudine Trongcoso and Desa Mae Puyo suit up for the Central Philippine University as Ritchelle Amuan and Lyca Dasmarinas for the Iloilo Prisaa team. Cebu’s Dyan Daratinao and Janelle Cabahug will play for Southwestern University.

The champion team of this two-day event will receive P25,000.

The first runner-up will get P12,000; second runner-up P7,000; and third runner-up, P5,000.

Moises Salomon of the Iloilo City Sports Development Division said the teams will be bracketed into two groups wherein the top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals. The winners will figure in the knockout finals. (HGD)
