Negros BFP to get P1-M worth of equipment from US team

THE Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Negros Island Region (NIR) will receive P1-million worth of equipment from the United States-based Firefighters for Christ on Friday, February 10.

Superintendent Fred Trajeras Jr., acting director of BFP-NIR, said the equipment include power saw tools for vehicle extrication and tools for water rescue and wildfire management.

The assistance will really help the region in responding to vehicular accidents and combating forest fires, Trajeras added.

The equipment will be turned over to the BFP-NIR after the graduation rites of 82 firemen, who are undergoing training on safe firefighting and water rescue.

Ten firefighters from the US and one from the United Kingdom arrived in Bacolod City on February 6 to conduct the training, which will end on February 11.

This is the first time that foreign firefighters came to Bacolod to share their expertise with Negrense firemen, Trajeras said.
