Negros Island top drug suspect charged for frustrated murder

A FRUSTRATED murder complaint was filed against Negros Island top drug suspect Ricky Serenio before the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday after he shot a man on Lacson Street in Barangay Mandalagan early Tuesday morning.

Senior Inspector Jun Ray Batadlan, head of Police Station 3, said the filing was done around 1 p.m., but they did not include Serenio’s companion in the complaint because he remains unidentified.

Serenio, an alleged bagman of Berya drug group, was arrested in Talisay City last January 8 for grave coercion, illegal possession of firearms, and explosives, but had been out on bail afterwards.

He identified certain policemen, media personalities, politicians, and other law enforcers as protectors of illegal drugs.

On December 5, Serenio and his unidentified driver-companion, on board a motorcycle, followed Joen Villacojer, 29, who was also riding a motorcycle, and shot him.

Villacojer was hit in his left leg.

Villacojer had been arrested for possession of dangerous drugs in October 2016, but he was able to post bail.

Batadlan said they are eyeing a failed drug transaction or grudge as the motive.

Serenio had not replied to the text message asking for his reaction on the case filed against him.
