New DCWD building operational this month

THE new building of the Davao City Water District (DCWD) is targeted to be fully operational and capable of accepting all types of transactions by the end of the month.

During the Habi at Kape press conference last Wednesday, April 11, deputy spokesperson Jovanna Cresta Duhaylungsod said they were just waiting for the network connections and other electrical-related concerns to be addressed before they move their tellers and other employees to the new building.

She added if in the event that there is any movement of payments from their Tulip Drive office to the new building, they are sure to announce it to their consumers.

“Right now, we are just checking the power supply capacity of the building – the voltage, and the other measures we need to do,” shared Duhaylungsod.

Their new office in Matina, that costs around P300 million, is composed of two buildings – the laboratory and the one-stop shop eight-story office.

“Our old laboratory was in Madapo. We transferred it at the back of the new building. That is where all the water quality analyses are being done. The other one is the 8-story building. Actually we have seven storeys for the building and then the topmost is reserved for the recreational activities of the employees for the sports development,” said Duhaylungsod.

She added their Matina office had been constructed with the objective of providing their customers a one-stop shop for all of the transactions needed by the customers in one building.

The old Madapo property will be used by the company’s property division where their things are to be surrendered. Their Bajada office will still be operating which will especially cater to the needs of their service areas in the central and northern parts of the city.

After the construction of their new building in Matina, DCWD also eyes improvement and renovation of their office in Bajada although it may not be an immediate concern for the meantime. They plan to copy the services provided by the Matina building to the new and improved Bajada office for the nearby consumers.

“Our operation facility by the Talomo River will still be operational because that is our big reservoir that supplies water to the Dumoy Water System. We also have a property in Catalunan Grande. That will also house our technical field group. It is a spacious area where all of the vehicles are housed. The north crew will be housed in the Bajada office,” Duhaylungsod said.
