Ngilngig Camp soon

IF YOU are into filmmaking and love the horror genre, then you might just want to join the Davao Ngilngig Film Camp, a workshop for aspiring filmmakers on how to make independent horror films.

The three-day intensive exploration of the basics of independent film making will be held on September 11-13 in Davao City, handled by the makers of Sonata Maria named Best First Feature Film of 2014 of the Young Critics Circle of the Philippines YCC Film Desk.

The film camp aims to gather as much urban legends in Mindanao in short film format while developing the skills of those interested in filmmaking.

Participants can apply as a group or as individuals. As final output, they will be producing a low budget 5-8 minute horror film that will be shown at the second Davao Ngilngig Film Festival in October 2015.

Participants must have the following: Digital Camera (DSLR or camcorder), Sound Recorder (optional), Laptop Computer (with Adobe Pr or Final Cut), and Tent and Sleeping Bag (optional).

Registration fees are: P2,000 for individual registrants, P3,500 for a group of 2, and P5,000 for a group of three. This will already cover Transportation from downtown Davao to campsite, meals and snack during the 3-day film camp, and accommodation.

Speakers are: Rudolph Ian Alama (Mindanao Film Festival Festival Director) on history of Davao Filmmaking; Angely Chi (Writer and Storyteller, Switotwins Inc./Producer, Sonata Maria) on story development, scriptwriting, and producing; Bagane Fiola (Director, Sonata Maria 2014) on directing, editing, and screening and distribution; Bem De Lira (Writer and Visual Storyteller, Ligkot Limns) on cinematography and visual storytelling; Maki Serapio (Sound Designer, Sonata Maria 2014) on production sound and sound design, and Ferdinand Mesias (Indie Actor, Sonata Maria 2014) on basic acting in film.
