No arraignment yet for Davao night market suspects

THERE is no arraignment scheduled yet for the Maute group members in the September 2, 2016 Roxas night market incident in Davao City.

Matters were held in abeyance in Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 17 for the terrorism case against the Maute group members in the Roxas night market incident pending further inquiries.

Branch 17 Judge Evalyn Arellano-Morales has yet to schedule the arraignment for the accused.

Judge Lope Callo of RTC Branch 33 already set the arraignment and hearing for TJ Macabalang, Wendel Apostol Facturan, Musali Mustapha, Zack Villanueva Lopez and Jericho De Rome on July 28 for their multiple murder and multiple frustrated murder cases.

The bombing at the Roxas night market killed 15 and injured 69 others.

Reports said only the five accused along with seven others were charged for terrorism, in violation of Section 3 of Republic Act 9374, also known as the Human Security Act.

The charges against the others were dropped. This, after some of the accused were cleared for being either minors or turned into state witnesses.

The City Prosecutor's Office filed a petition before the Department of Justice to move the trial and detention of the accused to another place.
