Nomination to 'Ang Ilongga Awards' extended until May 31

ILOILO -- The submission of nominations to the Search for Outstanding Woman Community Leader 2017, or known as "Ang Ilongga Awards," has been extended until midnight of May 31.

Now on its second year, the annual search aims to identify and give recognition to women leaders with extraordinary accomplishments creating positive change and sustainable solutions to issues and concerns affecting their community.

The nominee may excel in the field of community justice, peace and order, health and wellness, education, culture and arts, entrepreneurship, agriculture, fisheries and forestry, or disaster risk reduction and management.

The nominees, who are at least 18 and a bonafide resident of the province, will be judged based on the following criteria:

1. Leadership (30 percent) - The ability of women to lead, transforms and inspires her fellowmen to attain goals in line with the development of a certain community. This also highlights her display of visionary thinking to bring about positive change.

2. Women Empowerment (20 percent) - Refers to her ability to empower women through institutionalization of reforms to eradicate gender bias and discrimination, ensuring health, safety and well-being of women, implementation of enterprise development, and promotion of education, training and professional development for women.

3. Community and Civic Involvement (20 percent) - Refers to her involvement or participation to various community and civic programs organized by both the public and private sector, which resulted to the empowerment of women and development of their family’s wellbeing.

4. Social Impact (30 percent) - Refers to her significant accomplishments that brought positive change on the social fabric of the community.

Nomination forms can be downloaded from www.iloilo.gov.ph, the official website of the Province of Iloilo, and must be emailed to angilonggaawards@gmail.com before the said deadline.

Nominees will be interviewed by a panel of judges representing different sectors (i.e. academe, business, civic organization, media) on June 9, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in VIP Room 2, 2nd floor of Casa Real de Iloilo.

The top five finalists of the search will undergo a background check during the field validation on the 3rd and 4rd week of June.

Winners will receive trophies and cash prizes: P10,000 for the 1st runner-up, P8,000 for the 2nd runner-up and P5,000 for the 3rd runner-up.

The "Ang Ilongga Awards" is organized by the Junior Chamber International Iloilo Ilang-Ilang in coordination with the Gender and Development Unit of the Province of Iloilo. (PR)
