Nonoy Zuñiga, Rey Valera to hold benefit concert

BALLADEER and hitmaker Nonoy Zuñiga and contemporary Rey Valera will have a benefit concert on December 7 at SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City.

Zuñiga, in a press conference Monday, November 20, at Seda Hotel, said the concert is for the benefit of Kalipay Negrense Foundation which is working for the cause of the disadvantaged children, the homeless, physically and sexually abused, malnourished, out of school, and special children.

Zuñiga said he is happy to share his gift of music to the people of Bacolod and Negros Occidental.

He had more than 20 albums since he became a recording artist in 1981.

He continued to take care of his voice and his health by maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Zuñiga also has his businesses in Cebu and started to record Visayan songs which will come out very soon.

Kalipay Negrense founder and president Anna Balcells said she run the foundation as a way of giving back to this island where she was happy growing up.

"We rescue abused and homeless children. We take care of them. We give them shelter and a lot of love. We have 104 helpless children with us. We also have our school now. We give them full education from kindergarten all the way to high school. Those who can make it to college, we also help them. We already have college graduates and in fact some were already working in Manila," she said.

"We run our foundation by faith. We catch miracles everyday because running this foundation needs more resources to run it," she said.

Balcells thanked Zuñiga and the others who organize this concert.

"This is a miracle that we constantly need. We are survived by the kindness of people who just come out and do something like this. Nonoy did not even know me but he is with us in our cause," she said.
