THREE female nursing graduates and two men were arrested by the Waterfront Police Station after they were caught having a pot session in Barangay San Roque, Cebu City at noon last Monday.
Waterfront Police Station Chief Wildemar Tiu said they were conducting an operation against robbers who victimize people at the pier area when they chanced upon the group.
They were on Palma St., Barangay San Roque and were checking the house of Myrna Pantallona, 51, when they saw the group allegedly using illegal drugs.
Arrested were Debbie Samson Pondara, 22, Melissa Jane Gomez Estilo, 21, Fritz Joan Emphasis Cane, 21, Garry Nonay, 18, and Jonel Gomez Conejos, 18.
Aside from the five, they also arrested Pantallona, since she owns the house where the pot session was held.
Cases of violating RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002, will be filed against the suspects, who are currently detained at the Waterfront Police Stockade.
Passenger
Meanwhile, a taxi driver who allegedly stole two necklaces and a wallet from his passenger last Sunday was also arrested.
Driver Arnold Villahermosa, 35, was arrested by the Fuente police in his house in Barangay Ermita at 2 p.m. after the operatives traced him through the body number of his taxi that the victim boarded during the incident.
Villahermosa allegedly stole two necklaces amounting to P100,000 and a wallet containing P2,500 placed inside the bag owned by victim Irish Hui, 25.
Hui reportedly boarded the cab of Villahermosa with body number 5217 on Sunday afternoon.
Hui was heading to Sacred Heart Church on Jakosalem St. When the cab arrived at the church, Hui found difficulty opening the door.
The driver allegedly took advantage of the situation and stole the jewelry and the items.
Villahermosa denied stealing items, saying Hui left them in her haste.
Police recovered the necklaces at a pawnshop where these had been pawned at P25,000 each.
A case of robbery will be filed against Villahermosa, who is currently detained in the Fuente Police stockade.
