Old woman escapes from 'kidnappers'

A 60-YEAR-OLD woman claimed she was kidnapped by three persons and her car was stolen around 12:30 p.m. Monday, November 27, in the basement of a mall in Barangay Talamban, Cebu City.

Police identified the victim as Elizabeth Seniedo, a resident of Talamban. She reported to Moalboal Police Station on Tuesday dawn, November 28.

The kidnappers stole her vehicle (AED-3357), P15,000 cash, a branded watch worth P300,000, bag worth more than P36,000, cell phone and necklace worth P30,000.

Senior Police Officer 1 Jenny Lind Awe, the Moalboal Women and Children's Protection chief, said the victim was able to escape her captors, one of whom is a woman, in Barangay Kanyuko, Dumanjug.

Seniedo boarded a bus bound for Moalboal. The conductor, who learned of her fate, guided her to the police station.

Before she was kidnapped, Awe said Seniedo narrated that she went to the mall's basement parking area after completing a transaction in the same mall.

Two armed men approached Seniedo and told her not to make any noise at gunpoint.

Seniedo's hands were tied with a plastic cable inside her car. She was blindfolded and she heard a woman voice who joined the men.

The kidnappers brought her to a grassy area, where she begged to untie her because her hands were hurt.

Seniedo was untied and warned not to escape, but she ran and hid until she was able to ride a bus.

Seniedo's husband fetched her in Moalboal Police Station on Tuesday morning, November 28.

Awe said they have turned over the case to Talamban Police Station. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
