Ombud suspends NBI investigator

THE Ombudsman Visayas has ordered the suspension from service for three months without pay of NBI investigator III Geovel Aperio who is found liable for simple misconduct filed by local broadcaster Rommel Pido of dyAF.

The order was signed by Deputy Ombudsman Pelagio S. Apostol and two others.

Pido complained against Aperio for allegedly brandishing his firearm while he was drunk sometime in December 2010.

Pido took up his alleged abuse and arrogance on air which led Perio to come to his station, armed and looking for him.

The Ombudsman concluded that the respondent had indeed intended to create fear in the minds of the complainant and his group.

Strict personal discipline is expected of an occupant of a public office because a public official is a property of the public.

He is looked upon to set the example how public officials should correctly conduct themselves even in the face of extreme provocation. Always, he is expected to act and serve with the highest degree of responsibility, integrity, loyalty and efficiency and shall remain accountable for his conduct to the people. (CNC)
