One Championship offers blockbuster show

ASIA'S biggest MMA organization, ONE Championship, stages a blockbuster MMA show in Manila that features the cream of the crop in Filipino MMA.

ONE Championship - "Age of Domination" features Filipino stars Brandon Vera, Mark Striegl and Honorio Banario on Dec. 2 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila.

Vera defends his ONE Championship heavyweight crown against unbeaten Japanese grappler Hideki Sekine in the main event.

Vera, once one of the best heavyweights in the UFC, had an impressive ONE Championship debut in 2014 with a first round stoppage over Philippine-based Ukranian Igor Subora. He then won the vacant heavyweight belt a year after with a first round knockout over Paul Cheng.

The 43-year-old Sekine, an accomplished BJJ fighter, is coming off a win over Ryuta Kono. He, however, has not fought in MMA for close to two years. Vera, for his part, hasn't fought in the cage for close to a year.

The 39-year-old Vera is 14-7, while Sekine is unbeaten with a 7-0 slate.

Filipino-American Mark Striegl (14-2) faces off with dangerous Brazilian grappler Rafael Nunes (10-1) in the main feature.

Former ONE Championship featherweight champion Honorio Banario looks to extend his winning streak to three in a row when he trades strikes with Indian warrior Rajinder Singh Meena (8-2).

In the undercard, Filipino striker Edward Kelly (8-3) squares off Indonesian Sunoto (5-2), Team Lakay's April Osenio (2-1) is up against unbeaten Taiwanese Jenny Huang (4-0), unbeaten Team Lakay prospect Danny Kingad (3-0) is up against deadly Cebuano striker Eugene Toquero (8-3), Chinese Liu Peng Shuai (2-0) is fighting Cambodian Sim Bunsrun (2-3) and Chinese Xie Bin (1-2) faces off with Indonesian Mario Satya Wirawan (5-4) in the curtain-raiser.
