ONLINE freelancer jobs are a fad in today’s society. Anyone can earn money with the internet as long as they have the skills and attitudes that employers are looking for.
To extend this technology to the out-of-school of Mindanao, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)-Mindanao Cluster 2 is bringing the information and communications technology through their countryside development program titled, “Digital Literacy Training and Introduction to Virtual Assistant.”
The program will introduce online jobs and skills to out-of-school youth and will be organized through a partnership of DICT and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The DSWD will be choosing the beneficiaries that will be granted with free access to the seminar by DICT, which will take place from July 17 to 21.
The out-of-school youth beneficiaries of the program will undergo a five-day training that will deal with the basic concepts of earning through the internet with certain skills for online work. This will be done in the provincial training centers of DICT.
“This is actually a great avenue for out of school youth beneficiaries to make a living like other people do nowadays through the internet,” said Felix Tabanao, the representative of the DICT-Mindanao Cluster 2.
Aside from skill-learning, DICT’s training will teach the beneficiaries about the basic sites that they can visit where they could create a profile, submit applications, and basically showcase their skills and knowledge. After undergoing the seminar, the beneficiaries are expected to be more equipped in finding jobs for themselves in more beneficial areas or mediums such as the internet.
